THE badass winter beater is just about ready to beat the streets!
Last June, I laid up my green saturn in the garage with the intention of building it up as a kickass winter throwaround car. Initially it was garaged so I could replace the transmission; 200k miles took its toll on the original trans and 2nd gear was unusable. Well… as it always happens, I couldn’t just stop there.
6 months, replaced trans, and a new starter, clutch, hydro pack, brakes, calipers, alternator, belts, hoses, thermostat, tires, wheels, reconditioned engine cradle, cleaned up everything, new plugs, wires, battery, and exhaust.
Here she is:
When this winter is over, she’s gonna get even more badass. Plans for the 2015 season are a grille guard, HID aux lights, rebuild of the back end (things like brakes, gas tank and such), and if I can pull it off I’m going to fabricate a 2″ lift and a custom winch mount so I can pull myself out of the ditch at any angle simply by mounting a winch to any side of the car, I’ll post some more details on that later as it still needs to be designed.
Special thanks to Chris for helping out with the cleanup of this future snow beast project.
