I’ve been going through a bit of a rebirth internally lately, changing some of the ways I’d been taught and learned to think about things around me like life, family, my relationship to God and everyone else, society, work, business, all sorts of things. One of the things that I’d been working on lately to change my perspective on life as it relates to family and relationships, is the concept of daily deposits.
Some of you probably “know” this, or are doing it or have heard about it but I tell you, in practice, like as part of a daily thing it’s TOUGH AS HELL to stay on top of, stay honest about, and work through; and it IS work. Stop being a know it all and start thinking about how it could impact your family.
How can showing your family you love them daily be work though? Why? Because life gets in the way. Because you’re busy, and they’re busy and there are fights, disagreements, you’re tired, all sorts of bullshit gets in the way. You need to say FUCK YOU to all that, and just DO IT.
So what am I up to here?
The premise is, that every day you do something in one or more of your relationships with people you love, to express your honor, love, and/or appreciation to them. In doing so, you fill up the love bucket, you make a deposit.
For me, it starts in the early mornings where I’m up at 5am to get my shit together with bible study, fitness, meditation, learning, and finally, writing little love notes to my family before I hit the shower. Some mornings I’m just way too busy so maybe later on they get a text from me, or a little video message sent to their phones; just to say I love you.
This concept has changed things dramatically f
After time, you will see that they will start reciprocating the gesture, as you can see, I’ve received a few notes of my own in the few months I’ve been practicing this.
Either way, it lets your family know that even though things are crazy and even though life is messy, that you still love them unconditionally, and for that it warms their hearts to heights you never thought possible.
